In 1912 Dr Robert Felkin, explorer, missionary and mystic, travelled from London with his wife and daughter to the village of Havelock North, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, at the invitation of members of the local community. Havelock so endeared itself to the Felkins that they emigrated to NZ in 1916.
The Felkins left a distinctive and far-reaching legacy in Europe, Africa and New Zealand and were prominent members of the Havelock North community. As such, it is fitting that their arrival in Havelock North be commemorated by a centennial conference recognising their collective social, religious and historical influence across three continents.
Dr Robert Felkin
The conference is aimed at appealing to academic and independant researchers alike and hopes to draw interested parties from the local area, from around New Zealand and from abroad.
